This year, our Board assessed its collective capability against a comprehensive Board Skills Matrix, aligned to our 2024–2029 strategy. That work identified where we want to deepen our strength as a group – and to invite people whose expertise complements our current Board.
We welcome candidates with expertise in one or more of:
- Marketing, communications and reputation
- Government relations and advocacy
- Digital and technology governance
- Legal, regulatory and compliance
- People and culture leadership
- Fundraising, partnerships and revenue diversification
All Directors bring financial acumen, corporate governance understanding, legal and regulatory awareness, and risk management capability – alongside sound judgement, high ethical standards, respect for diversity, equity and inclusion and a commitment to our mission.
Previous board experience is desirable but not essential if you can demonstrate strong executive leadership, strategic thinking and governance capability.
What’s involved
- The Board meets 4–6 times a year, virtually and in person
- Participation in at least one Board committee and annual strategic planning
- Reviewing papers and preparing properly for meetings
- Representing Arthritis Australia at selected events where appropriate
Arthritis Australia Directors are volunteers. Travel, accommodation and reasonable out-of-pocket expenses are covered. The usual term is three years, with a maximum of three terms.
