We are conducting an ethically approved research study at Deakin University exploring the experiences and preferences of informal carers of adults with musculoskeletal conditions in Australia. The study aims to better understand how different aspects of informal caregiving are valued and how caregiving affects people’s lives to help inform future health policy and support services for carers.
Who can take part?
Adults aged 18 years or older living in Australia who currently provide unpaid care to an adult family member or friend with a musculoskeletal condition (e.g., osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, chronic back or neck pain, fibromyalgia, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, sciatica, scoliosis, or a hip condition requiring or awaiting hip replacement surgery).
What does participation involve?
• Completing one online survey (approximately 15–20 minutes).
• The survey includes:
– background questions about you and your caregiving role,
– hypothetical caregiving situations,
– and brief questionnaires about quality of life and work or daily activities.
Location: Australia-wide (online).
Confidentiality: Participation is voluntary. Survey responses are confidential and de-identified. You may stop the survey at any time before submitting your responses.
Reimbursement: Participants who complete the survey may receive a $10 digital gift voucher as a thank you for their time.
